Powassan Virus is a disease spread to people by the bite of an infected tick. Ticks become infected after feeding from an infected rodent, mice, squirrel or groundhog. Although this is a rare disease, the number of reported cases of people sick from Powassan virus in the U.S. has increased over the years.
