Marburg virus disease (MVD) is a rare disease that affects both people and non-human primates (monkeys). The exact ways that the virus spreads from animals to humans are unknown but it is believed to spread through blood or bodily fluids (feces, urine, saliva) or through contaminated objects (clothes, bedding, needles and medical equipment).
