Japanese encephalitis (JE) virus is caused by the bite of an infected mosquito and is closely related to the West Nile Virus and Saint Louis encephalitis virus. JE is found in many countries of Asia. For travelers to Asia, the risk is low but this varies on destination, length of travel, season, and activities.
