Alzheimer’s disease is the most common type of dementia.  It is a brain disorder that slowly destroys memory and thinking skills and, eventually, the ability to carry out the simplest tasks. Alzheimer’s disease is irreversible, progressive, and is the 6th leading cause of death among all adults that accounts for 4.3% in the U.S. and the 5th leading cause of death among those aged 65 or older.  In Nevada, it is the 7th leading cause of death and accounts for 2.6% of all causes of death.
