Occupational Health & Health Equity Program

Health equity ensures that all individuals have access to health education, resources, support, and opportunities to ensure a healthier quality of life despite race, ethnicity, culture, socioeconomic status, religion, gender identity or sex. The health equity epidemiology program aims to support health equity efforts by partnering with federal, state, and community-based organizations and programs to improve inclusivity through health quality, affordable access to care, and stable health outcomes.  This program performs surveillance of state-level epidemiologic data to identify health equity issues and works collaboratively with partners to inform upstream policy decisions with the goal to effect change that will reduce health inequities within our state.

Occupational epidemiology is a fundamental science of occupational health and safety, focusing mainly on disease and injury causation and prevention.  The occupational health program provides pertinent data to help inform policies and prevention measures in the workplace, promoting greater quality of life for working people, their families, and our communities.  This program is focused on building partnerships with employers throughout Nevada, along with federal, state, local, and community-based organizations, to provide guidance on disease and injury prevention and overall health promotion in occupational settings.
