Establishment of Central Nevada Health District and Communicable Disease Reporting

Summary

The creation of the Central Nevada Health District (CNHD) is the result of four counties (Churchill, Mineral, Pershing and Eureka) and the City of Fallon seeking to provide local public health services to their local communities. CNHD began serving its communities on July 1, 2023.

CNHD provides clinical, environmental, public health preparedness and communicable disease surveillance services. Complete details of the services offered can be found here.

Epidemiological and communicable disease surveillance

In Churchill, Mineral, Pershing and Eureka counties, CNHD is responsible for all communicable disease investigation and control efforts, which include:

  • Communicable disease investigation and contact tracing efforts.
  • Communicable disease surveillance.
  • Outbreak investigations.
  • Education and recommendations on both communicable and chronic disease prevention.
